THE SENSE OF SYMPTOMS - Freud Lecture XVII -

English

There are three classes, on a lecture Freud gave in 1917 that argues that every symptom has a meaning. Freud gives two examples of patients with repetitive compulsive disorders and connects with deep and intimate feelings to unravel the symptom. The method that Freud uses is psychoanalysis and we develop the psychic structure and its defects for the formation of symptoms.

The psychoanalyst Fabiana Ratti reads Freud's text in its entirety, making clinical and theoretical comments. The idea of the commented readings is to make psychoanalysis more accessible so that mental health can take new directions in the 21st century, without so much medicalization. This is a cycle of conferences where different psychoanalytic concepts, their method and effectiveness in the treatment of mental health will be addressed.
