This document describes the study on the theory of reactive silencers employing the method of transfer functions to estimate the transmission loss. The theoretical development was implemented in specialized software (Matlab) with a graphical user interface, this was designed so that it can calculate the behavior of various elements in series that make up a silencer. Then, a straight pipe is mathematically modeled using the developed algorithm, the results are compared with measurements made in a tube of the same characteristics. Later the same pipeline is simulated in ANSYS, obtaining parameters such as transmission loss and frequency response. The aim was not carried to term and the justification of this is explained.
